Since most restoration companies get their business from the same companies that also approve the damage, there is a conflict of interest in the repairs and the bids to perform the work. These companies still need to make money, so they use less then ideal crews to help keep their margins that every business needs. We use the same crews on our home remodels as we do on your fire damage, water damage or storm damage repairs to your home. We make sure our estimates include all the items in Xactimate Software  that were damaged in the insurance loss but also adjust the numbers when they don’t meet the quality that you deserve. Your home is supposed to be put back in pre-loss condition. This never means box cabinets when you had custom ones.  

Attics to Basements Building and Renovations is operated by David Vinje CR, CAPS. There are many services that are offered by Attics to Basements because of their extensive experience in remodeling, residential design, and construction management. When founding the company, owner David Vinje knew that the Minneapolis & St Paul area needed a company that offered professional remodeling, construction, and damage restoration services.

Since 2006, the company has also done such projects as additions, kitchens and bathrooms, complete home builds, and home remodels.

We are insured, licensed, and we hold a number of certificates. Those certificates include being a NARI Certified Remodeler, EPA Certified Renovator, Certified Aging in Place (NHAB), and Minnesota State Certified Home Energy Auditors.

Why does experience matter?

As the years pass, home building laws and codes change. The more experience you have the more unique challenges you come across.

Unfortunately the first time you come across these challenges, they will add to the cost of the remodel as they were not anticipated and a change order for the miscalculation will be required. As a contractor gains experience they will see these ahead of time an include them in the cost of the remodel, allowing for an accurate budget for for the project without a surprise change order and unrealistic estimates.
